NECO GCE Starts Tomorrow: Late Registration Closes Today, WAEC & NECO 2027 Registration Open

Tuesday 3 November 2026 is a deadline day three times over. NECO GCE late registration closes tonight and the examination itself starts tomorrow morning; NECO's 2027 SSCE Internal registration opened yesterday through schools; and WAEC's offline registration for the 2027 WASSCE school examination opened yesterday too. Here is every confirmed date, fee and next step in one place — plus the one exam, JAMB 2027, that still has no official dates at all.

Three deadlines land this week, and one lands tonight. If you are a private candidate who still has not registered for the NECO GCE 2026 (the SSCE External), late registration closes today, Tuesday 3 November 2026, and the examination itself starts tomorrow, Wednesday 4 November. At the same time, two 2027 registrations opened yesterday, Monday 2 November: NECO SSCE Internal 2027 registration through schools, and WAEC’s offline registration for the 2027 WASSCE for school candidates. This roundup puts every confirmed date and fee in one place, in deadline order — including the fourth exam, JAMB 2027, which still has no official dates at all.

Key Takeaways

  • NECO GCE 2026 late registration closes today, 3 November. The fee is ₦30,000 plus the ₦5,000 late charge. After tonight, only walk-in registration on an exam day remains, at ₦43,000.
  • NECO GCE examinations start tomorrow, Wednesday 4 November, with Marketing, and end Saturday 21 November — 39 papers across 16 subjects. Be seated 30 minutes before your paper, photocard in hand.
  • NECO SSCE Internal 2027 registration opened yesterday, 2 November, through schools only. It closes 26 February 2027; the fee is ₦30,000 per candidate and every candidate needs a valid NIN.
  • WAEC offline registration for WASSCE 2027 school candidates also opened yesterday and runs to 22 December 2026. CASS uploads close earlier, on 17 December, and online registration follows from 23 November to 22 January 2027.
  • JAMB 2027 has no registration dates yet. The 15–25 March 2027 exam window is a Federal Government proposal, not a JAMB announcement. Do not pay anyone for a “JAMB form” today.

1. NECO GCE 2026: Register Tonight or Sit Tomorrow

The most urgent item is the one with hours left. NECO’s late registration for the 2026 SSCE External opened on 27 October and closes today, 3 November. Registration is through the official portal, ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng: create an account, pay into the NECO TSA through Remita or one of the other listed payment options, then complete biometric capture at a registration point. Your valid National Identification Number (NIN) must be entered correctly before registration can succeed, and your fingerprints are captured during the offline part of the process — a payment without the biometric step is not a completed registration.

The examination then starts tomorrow, Wednesday 4 November 2026, at 10:00 am with Marketing (Paper III objective, then Paper II essay), and runs to Saturday 21 November, when Government closes the diet. Agricultural Science follows on Thursday 5 November and Further Mathematics on Friday 6 November, so a candidate registered for the common commercial and science subjects has papers in the very first week. Our full NECO GCE timetable lists all 39 papers with dates, codes and start times — check your subjects against it tonight, including the 2:00 pm afternoon papers.

Worked example: what registering today actually costs

Take a private candidate registering this evening for the standard GCE package. The arithmetic is fixed by NECO’s published charges:

ItemAmount
SSCE External registration fee (includes four-figure mathematical table and waterproof certificate folder)₦30,000
Late registration charge (27 October – 3 November window)₦5,000
Total payable today (before bank and Remita charges)₦35,000
Same registration left until an exam day (walk-in)₦43,000

Registering today instead of walking in tomorrow saves ₦8,000, and your name, subjects and photocard are settled before the first paper. Already registered? Tonight is for the final checks in our NECO GCE final countdown guide and a last timed run on our free CBT practice.

2. NECO SSCE Internal 2027: Registration Opened Yesterday

For students currently in SSS 3, the bigger story is next year’s examination. NECO’s 2027 SSCE Internal registration opened yesterday, Monday 2 November 2026, and it is handled through schools only — private candidates cannot register for the Internal examination, and NECO has prohibited the admission or transfer of candidates into SSS 3 between schools for this purpose. Normal registration closes on Friday 26 February 2027 at 11:59 pm. A short late window follows, 27 February to 5 March 2027, at an extra ₦5,000 per candidate, and NECO states plainly that there will be no extension after that.

The fee is ₦30,000 per candidate, rising to ₦33,800 once the mathematical tables (₦1,300) and certificate folder (₦2,500) are added. Every candidate needs a valid NIN, and each candidate is issued a National Learner’s Identification Number (NLIN) for the examination. The examination itself holds Thursday 1 April to Tuesday 11 May 2027 in NECO’s dual hybrid mode — part computer-based, part pen-and-paper. Our NECO 2027 registration guide breaks down the full charge list and the six steps schools follow, and the Syllabus and Timetable Hub tracks the confirmed window alongside the other bodies.

3. WAEC 2027: Offline Registration Opened Yesterday Too

WAEC’s registration machinery for the 2027 WASSCE for school candidates also moved yesterday. Under WAEC’s registration circular of 16 October 2026, offline registration runs from Monday 2 November to Tuesday 22 December 2026. Two related dates matter just as much: the upload of CASS 1 and 2 (Continuous Assessment Scores) opened on 20 October and closes earlier, on Thursday 17 December 2026, and online registration follows from Monday 23 November 2026 to Friday 22 January 2027. Registration is through your school — there is no individual portal for school candidates — and the normal entry fee in the circular is ₦30,000 per candidate.

The 2027 examination will use a combination of hybrid computer-based (CB-WASSCE) and pen-and-paper formats, and WAEC has stated that the subject registration guidelines used in 2026 — the compulsory subjects, the trade subjects, and the minimum and maximum subject counts — remain unchanged for 2027. One honesty note: the examination window itself, 11 May to 18 June 2027, is still only proposed in the Federal Government’s harmonised calendar; WAEC has not published a 2027 timetable. Treat the window as planning guidance, not a confirmed timetable. Our WAEC registration 2027 guide covers the requirements and deadlines for school candidates in full.

4. JAMB 2027: Still No Dates — and That Is the News

The fourth body has nothing new, and students should know that clearly because unofficial pages are already claiming the JAMB form is out. It is not. JAMB has not announced 2027 registration dates; registration dates are yet to be communicated. The 15–25 March 2027 UTME window circulating online comes from the Federal Government’s harmonised 2027 examination calendar — a proposal JAMB has amplified while clarifying the dates are not final. For reference, the 2026 cycle registered from 26 January to 28 February 2026 — a January announcement would follow the usual pattern, but that is a pattern, not a promise.

What you can do now is the preparation that does not depend on dates: get your NIN in order, keep the phone number you will use for your profile code, and start syllabus-based revision. Our JAMB 2027 preparation guide walks through the profile code, NIN and CBT centre steps so that when registration does open, you are filing on day one instead of queuing at a NIN centre.

What to Do Today, by Candidate Type

  • NECO GCE private candidate, not yet registered: register on ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng before tonight ends, complete biometric capture, and print your photocard. Budget ₦35,000 plus payment charges.
  • NECO GCE candidate, already registered: check your first-week papers, confirm your centre, lay out your photocard tonight, and be seated by 9:30 am tomorrow.
  • SSS 3 student (NECO Internal or WAEC school): confirm this week that your school has your correct name order, date of birth and NIN — corrections are far easier in November than in February.
  • JAMB 2027 aspirant: ignore “form is out” posts, keep your NIN and profile phone line safe, and revise. The official announcement will be on jamb.gov.ng first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still register for NECO GCE 2026 today?

Yes — today, Tuesday 3 November 2026, is the final day of late registration. The cost is the ₦30,000 registration fee plus the ₦5,000 late charge, paid through ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng, and you must complete biometric capture for the registration to count. After today, the only remaining route is walk-in registration on an exam day at ₦43,000.

Is WAEC 2027 registration open?

Yes, in its first phase. Offline registration for the 2027 WASSCE for school candidates opened on 2 November 2026 and runs to 22 December 2026, through schools. CASS 1 and 2 uploads close on 17 December 2026, and online registration runs from 23 November 2026 to 22 January 2027. Private candidates (GCE) have a separate series whose 2027 dates WAEC has not yet announced.

Has JAMB released the 2027 registration dates?

No. As at 3 November 2026, JAMB has not announced registration dates for UTME 2027. The 15–25 March 2027 examination window is a proposed date from the Federal Government’s harmonised calendar, not a confirmed JAMB timetable. Anyone selling a 2027 JAMB form or PIN today is not selling an official product.
