JAMB has not opened 2027 UTME registration yet. If a website, an agent or a social media post tells you the form is already on sale, treat it as a rumour until jamb.gov.ng says otherwise. But “not open” does not mean “do nothing”. Almost everything that delays or ruins a registration — a mismatched name on your NIN, a wrong subject combination, a rejected passport photograph, a profile code sent from the wrong phone — can be fixed now, while there is no deadline pressure.
This guide walks through the preparation you can finish today, based on JAMB’s established registration process. Where the 2027 exercise differs, we say so plainly; where JAMB has announced nothing yet, we say that too. The 2027 registration dates, fee and final timetable have not been announced.
Key Takeaways
- JAMB 2027 registration has not been announced. The proposed exam window of 15 – 25 March 2027 comes from the Federal Government’s proposed harmonised calendar — it is a proposal, not a final timetable.
- Your registration starts with your NIN: JAMB’s established process generates a profile code from your 11-digit NIN by SMS. Get the NIN details right now, before the rush.
- New for 2027: a National Digital Pre-Registration App (NDPA), a first session starting at 8:30 AM (arrive by 7:30 AM), and a planned UTME centre in Ottawa, Canada, for Nigerians abroad.
- Never pay anyone for “early” registration or a guaranteed centre. The 2026 fees (₦7,200 without mock, ₦8,700 with mock) are history, not the 2027 price.

Our 2027 dates roundup explains the proposed calendar in full, and the exam hub tracks every item above as the bodies publish.
Step 1: Get Your NIN and Profile Code Ready
Under JAMB’s established process, registration begins with a profile code generated from your National Identification Number. JAMB’s published guidance describes sending your NIN — the word NIN, a space, then your 11-digit number — by SMS to 55019 or 66019. Confirm the exact 2027 instructions in JAMB’s bulletin when registration is announced; short codes can change, but the principle will not: no correct NIN, no registration.
Worked walkthrough. Suppose your NIN is 12345678901. The SMS you send reads NIN 12345678901. A successful reply returns a 10-character profile code, which you then use to buy your e-PIN and complete registration at an accredited centre. Now check the three things that most often go wrong at this stage:
- Name mismatch. The name on your NIN record must match your O’level result. If your NIN carries a spelling your school never used, correct it at a NIMC enrolment centre now, not during registration week.
- Wrong digits. One transposed digit fails outright or ties the code to the wrong identity. Copy the number from your NIN slip, digit by digit.
- Wrong phone. Use a number you personally control and will keep for the next year: JAMB communications and admission updates all flow to it. Never generate a profile code with an agent’s number.
Never register a second NIN to fix a problem: corrections go through NIMC.
Step 2: Gather Your Documents Now
Put these in one folder — physical and digital — this week:
- Your NIN slip or card, and the phone number tied to it.
- Your O’level result, or awaiting-result status if you are still in SS3. JAMB’s guidance provides for awaiting-result candidates, subject to its rules — confirm the 2027 wording in the bulletin.
- A recent passport photograph that meets JAMB’s specifications (confirm the specification in the 2027 bulletin).
- An email address you control, for admission correspondence.
- Your chosen institution, course and four-subject combination, decided before you walk into the centre — see Step 3.
Sorting documents early also protects you from the classic registration-week scam: the “agent” who offers to fix a missing document for a fee.
Step 3: Choose Your Four Subjects Carefully — a Worked Example
UTME tests four subjects: Use of English, compulsory for everyone, plus three others chosen for your course. The wrong combination wastes a year even with a high score, because institutions screen on the brochure combination, not on your total alone.
Worked example. Two candidates, both strong students, both aiming high — but only one combination survives screening:
- Medicine and Surgery: Use of English + Physics + Chemistry + Biology. Swap Biology for Mathematics and the application fails the brochure requirement, however high the score.
- Civil Engineering: Use of English + Mathematics + Physics + Chemistry. Swap Chemistry for Biology and the same problem appears in reverse.
Before registration opens, open the JAMB brochure for your exact course and institution, write the four subjects down, and check them against your O’level credits. Then test yourself under real conditions in our timed CBT practice area, and read our guide to scoring 300 in JAMB.
Step 4: Register Only at an Accredited CBT Centre
When JAMB announces registration, the process runs through accredited Computer-Based Test centres, not agents or social media vendors. At the centre you will buy your e-PIN through approved channels, complete biometric capture, and receive a registration slip. Before you leave the counter, read that slip line by line: name spelling, four subjects, institution and course, centre, photograph. Errors found at the counter take minutes to fix; errors found on exam day can cost you the paper.
Keep the slip safe: you will need it to reprint your examination slip when slip printing opens, and you must present the printed slip at the centre on exam day. And one rule covers every step: never hand your profile code or e-PIN to anyone else.
What Is New for 2027
The NDPA app. JAMB has announced a National Digital Pre-Registration App for 2027. What exactly it will do — and whether it replaces or sits alongside the SMS profile-code step — will come in JAMB’s own announcements. Do not download any app calling itself the NDPA until JAMB publishes the official one.
An earlier first session. The first UTME session in 2027 starts at 8:30 AM, with candidates expected by 7:30 AM. That is later than the old 6:30 AM arrival, but still a morning to plan: arrange transport the day before, and travel the night before if your centre is far away.
A centre in Ottawa, Canada. JAMB announced on 5 October 2026, after a visit to the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, that it plans a UTME centre in Ottawa from 2027, so eligible Nigerians in Canada and other parts of North America can sit the exam without flying to Nigeria just for it. No venue, date, seat count or fee has been published yet, so treat 2027 as the target rather than a promise — and keep a backup plan of writing the exam in Nigeria until JAMB publishes firm details.
Scams to Avoid While You Wait
- “The form is out.” Until jamb.gov.ng says so, it is not. Screenshots of portals and “circulars” are easy to fake.
- Early slots and guaranteed centres. Nobody can sell you a place in a queue that does not exist yet.
- Paid WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Genuine JAMB information is free on JAMB’s own channels.
- Fake JAMB websites and apps. Check the domain character by character; one changed letter is enough to steal a payment and a profile code.
Your Preparation Timeline
Now to December: fix your NIN details, gather documents, lock in your subject combination, and practise daily under timed conditions. When JAMB announces registration: register early in the window at an accredited centre. Before exam day: reprint your slip as soon as printing opens, locate your centre a day early, and arrive by 7:30 AM for an 8:30 AM session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is JAMB 2027 registration open?
No. As of 27 October 2026, JAMB has not announced the 2027 UTME registration dates, and jamb.gov.ng shows no opening date, closing date or fee. The 15 – 25 March 2027 window is a Federal Government proposal, not a final timetable.
How much will the 2027 JAMB form cost?
The 2027 fee has not been announced. In 2026 the prices were ₦7,200 without mock and ₦8,700 with it — a rough budgeting guide, not the 2027 price. Wait for JAMB’s bulletin before paying anyone.
Can I register for JAMB without my WAEC or NECO result?
JAMB’s guidance provides for awaiting-result candidates, subject to its rules, with results uploaded when released. Confirm the 2027 provision in the bulletin, and upload your result promptly once it is out.
