NECO GCE Timetable 2026: Full Day-by-Day Schedule, 4–21 November — All 39 Papers
The NECO GCE 2026 examination starts on Wednesday 4 November — two days from now — and ends on Saturday 21 November. Here is NECO's official SSCE External timetable in full: all 39 papers across 16 subjects with paper codes, durations and start times, the afternoon papers and triple sittings candidates miss every year, and the exam-day rules printed on the timetable itself.

The NECO GCE 2026 examination — the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External for private candidates — starts in two days, on Wednesday 4 November 2026, and runs to Saturday 21 November 2026. NECO’s official timetable schedules 39 papers across 16 subjects on 16 exam days: Marketing opens the diet on 4 November and Government closes it on 21 November. Below is the complete timetable exactly as NECO published it — every date, paper code, duration and start time — followed by how to read it, a worked example of building your own personal schedule, and the exam-day rules printed on the timetable itself. If you have not registered yet, late registration closes tomorrow, Tuesday 3 November; the details are at the end of this page.
Key Takeaways
- Exams run Wednesday 4 – Saturday 21 November 2026: 39 papers, 16 subjects, 16 exam days. There are no papers on Sunday 8 or Sunday 15 November.
- English Language is a triple sitting on Saturday 14 November (objective, essay, then Test of Orals at 1:15 pm) and General Mathematics is on Wednesday 18 November, with the essay starting at 12:00 noon, not 11:00 am.
- Six subjects carry a 2:00 pm afternoon paper — Agricultural Science, Geography, Literature in English, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Check the time column, not just the date.
- Your photocard is mandatory, you must be seated 30 minutes before each paper, and if the time on your question paper ever differs from this timetable, the question paper’s time wins.
- Late registration closes tomorrow, 3 November (₦30,000 fee plus ₦5,000 late charge). After that, only walk-in registration on exam day remains, at ₦43,000.

How to Read This Timetable Without Missing a Paper
Your subjects are scattered, not blocked. Unlike a school timetable, the GCE diet gives each subject its own day or two, so a candidate writing nine subjects may only attend on nine or ten of the sixteen days. Build your personal list from the table above — date, start time, and the room you need to be in 30 minutes earlier.
Objective and essay are back to back. On almost every subject day, Paper III ends and Paper II begins within minutes — Accounting’s essay starts the very minute its objective ends (11:20 am). There is no real break, so eat before you arrive and treat the two papers as one long sitting.
Watch the two irregular start times. English Language Paper II starts at 11:15 am, not 11:00 am, because its objective paper runs a full hour and the orals follow at 1:15 pm. General Mathematics Paper II starts at 12:00 noon, after the longest objective paper on the timetable (1 hr 45 mins). Candidates who assume “essay is always at 11” are the ones who drift in late or sit idle for an hour.
The question paper outranks this page. NECO prints it on the timetable: where the time on the question paper differs from the timetable, the question paper’s time applies. Check both every morning.
Worked Example: Building One Candidate’s Personal Schedule
Take a candidate registered for English Language, General Mathematics, Biology, Economics, Government, Commerce, Civic Education, Chemistry and Christian Religious Studies. Filtering the full timetable to her nine subjects gives her real exam calendar:
- Friday 6 November — Commerce (objective 10:00 am, essay 11:00 am)
- Saturday 7 November — Civic Education (objective 10:00 am, essay 11:00 am – 1:00 pm)
- Thursday 12 November — Chemistry, a three-paper day ending with the alternative to practical at 2:00–4:00 pm
- Saturday 14 November — English Language triple sitting, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with the orals last
- Tuesday 17 November — Economics (objective 10:00 am, essay 11:00 am)
- Wednesday 18 November — General Mathematics (objective 10:00–11:45 am, essay 12:00 noon–2:30 pm)
- Thursday 19 November — Biology, another three-paper day with a 2:00 pm paper
- Friday 20 November — Christian Religious Studies (objective 10:00 am, essay 11:00 am)
- Saturday 21 November — Government closes her diet (objective 10:00 am, essay 11:00 am)
Two things jump out of the worked example. First, her hardest cluster is 17–19 November — Economics, Mathematics and Biology on three consecutive days — so those three subjects get her remaining revision hours first, in reverse order: Biology tonight, Mathematics tomorrow morning, Economics last because it comes first. Second, her two 2:00 pm papers (Chemistry and Biology) are the ones a date-only check would miss. Write your own list the same way, then revise backwards from it — and use timed objective practice in our free CBT practice area for the Paper III sittings, where pacing is what the marks reward.
Exam-Day Rules NECO Prints on the Timetable
- Photocard is mandatory. It is your identification in the hall — no photocard, no exam. Print it from the portal now, not on exam morning.
- Be seated 30 minutes before every paper. For a 10:00 am paper, that means 9:30 am, before biometric verification queues build up.
- Scientific calculators are allowed; programmable calculators are not. Mobile phones, iPads, tablets, smart watches, smart glasses and smart pens are prohibited in the hall — leave them at home.
- Albino and blind candidates receive 30 minutes extra on every paper.
- Sundays are free: no papers on 8 or 15 November — use them for the next week’s subjects, not a full stop.
